what are we doing about it and how

We believe that suicide prevention programmes for young people should be developed with their active participation, especially those who have experienced suicide in their personal lives.

Over the past year, we have spoken to over 50 young people from diverse backgrounds to understand their experiences and ideas on youth suicide prevention. Based on their thoughts and feedback we have co-developed three suicide prevention initiatives.

Public Engagement Campaign – enabling youth with suicide prevention resources to tackle stigma

Outlive Chat – saving young lives through chat-based peer support

Youth Advocacy for Suicide Prevention (YASP) Fellowship – empowering youth leaders in policy and governance for suicide prevention

I learnt how to be more empathetic and also got a real picture of how events can affect individuals. It's hard to accept when one hasn't experienced similar events, but the impact can be detrimental, and in those times it's important to reach out to a safe space.
